National Emergency Number Association
The first official publication of the National Emergency Number Association (NENA) was the 911 Reporter in 1983. The quarterly publication has undergone multiple title changes between its first issue and its last in 2010, including NENA News and Emergency Number Professional. The publication focuses on issues facing NENA’s mission to foster the technological advancement, availability, and implementation of a universal emergency telephone number system (9-1-1). It also documents the growth and development of NENA. Currently, NENA has more than 7,000 members in 48 chapters across the United States and around the globe who promote the implementation and awareness of 9-1-1, as well as international three-digit emergency communications systems. NENA’s newest publication, The Call, was launched in fall of 2011 to feature industry news and updates on technology, operations, policies, and training opportunities.
