STARVED ROCK, ILLINOIS STATE PARK, Contains about 1,000 acres, located in La Salle County. The excursion boat or Indian trail will take you to this picturesque rocky gorge, begining at the banks of the Illinois River and extending far into the interior of the Park. The scene is enchanting and compells our attention. Here, in the forest, amid blossoms and ferns, Nature has chiseled from the rock large simi-circular caves, displaying strata of sand of every hue, while over the crest of the gorge a silver cascade adds the finishing touch to a bit of wild woodland scenery known as the HORSE SHOE FALLS.
