- One of one hundred thousand. I am an American boy. I cannot go to the trenches, but I can do my bit at home so that a man may go to the trenches. I cannot suffer a soldier's hardships and wounds, but I can sacrifice to make a soldier's life more bearable. I cannot give a fortune, but I can work and give my earnings. I am a red-blooded American boy, I can do my bit of sacrifice with a soldier at the front. I will be one of one hundred thousand boys to earn and give one million dollars. NOTE: The Million Dollar Fund of American Boys is part of the $35,000,000 Campaign of the War Work Council of the Young Men's Christian Association of the United States.
