Cindy Henderson discusses her experiences growing up in Chicago, Illinois and as a student at Northern Illinois University. Enrolling in 1968, she took part in the Civil Rights Movement. After her graduation, she resided in Sycamore with her husband, who became the first black firefighter in that department. She discusses housing discrimination she and her husband experienced in Sycamore and how they overcame it.
