Jefferson, though a slaveholder, when speaking upon the subject of slavery, once said, "he trembled for his country when he remembered that God was just." Abe Lincoln offers a high premium if Judge Douglas will show that he (Douglas) in all his life has ever uttered a sentiment at all akin to that of Jefferson! The miserable trickster ever uttered a word or penned a line having so much of manliness and humanity embodied in it.
