Mr. Herndon:
I hasten to answer your interrogations, &c
1st. You are correct. Forefathers of Mr. L. I believe were born in Rockingham County, Roan Oak River, Va.
2d. Mr. Lincoln went to N.O in the fall of 36 or 37 with Gideon Romine, of Spencer County, Ind. Near Rockport. Went out of the Ohio river near Rockport. Mr. Lincoln's grandfather was named Abraham. Grandfat Name Abraham Lincoln — Great Grand father's name was Mordica Lincoln
Mr. L came back to Coles county — in the Spring following — remained with his father a few days and then went to Salem
A Lincoln father died 13 yrs ago 13th December
