Our U. S. Senators are not elected by the direct vote of the people, but by our legislature. The Senator that is elected from Stephenson and Jo Daviess counties this fall, and the Representative from Stephenson county, may elect or defeat Abram Lincoln. To vote for Lincoln then, vote the straight Republican ticket; vote for JOHN H. ADDAMS for Senator, and JOHN A. DAVIS for Representative – both good men and true.
