Judge Logan

Says there was no agreement — no understanding between Hardin — Baker — Lincoln & Logan about rotation in office — ie in Congress — That there was a bitter hostility between Hardin & Baker — a suspicion and dislike between Baker & Lincoln — : That Baker & Lincoln once run against Each other by friendly Convention. Baker beat Lincoln — Baker was Elected to Congress — , Afterwards — Baker went to Galena — Lincoln was a candidate — Elected — returned. Logan became a Candidate — was beaten — Lincoln's unpopularity among other things helped to beat Logan. &c.

Logan says that Lincoln gave him a letter during the Chicago Convention in 1860 authorizing him to withdraw Lincoln's name if he thought prudent so to do according to the rules & regulations of the Conventions proceedings —
