Says — : The valley of the Shenandoah in Virginia is on an average about 30 or 40 miles wide and is about 100 miles long — : the Valley lies in West Virginia — ecept Jefferson and Berkley Counties: it is a rich beautiful valley, and lies between the Alleghanies and the Blue Ridge. The valley is one of the richest soils in the world — especially for small grain — corn grows well — well and handsomely improved. The soil is a redish lime stone soil. The better classes live in the Country. It is an agricultural country and the educated and high born and bred mostly live in the country: The people are a brave — generous — and hospitable people — and educated people.
The farmers have their Strawberries — Raspberries — pears — peaches — plums &c — &c — and every Luxury — Brick and Frame houses — fine style of architectcher — late —
