Know all Men by These presents that We, Charles Gregory, Wm. Lane, Levi Davis, A. Lincoln, John Allen, R. B. Servant, Franklin Witt, E. B. Webb, Wm. H. Davidson, Wm. J. Gatewood, Wm. Thomas, John Hogan are held and firmly bound unto Joseph Duncan Governor of the State of Illinois and his successors in office in the sum of Fifty Thousand Dollars lawful money of the State of Illinois for the true payment whereof, we bind ourselves, our heirs, Executors and administrators jointly and severally, firmly by these presents sealed with our seals and dated this 30th Day of December Eighteen hundred and thirty six.
The condition of this obligation is such that whereas the above bounden Charles Gregory has been appointed State Treasurer of the State of Illinois, for the Term of the present Session of the General Assembly, to commence on the 30th day of Dec. 1836. Now if the said Charles Gregory, shall well and truly and faithfully discharge and perform the duties of his said office for and during his said Term and shall give additional security whenever such security shall at any time hereafter be required, then this obligation shall be void, otherwise it shall be and remain in full force.
