David Todd the Great Grandfather of Mrs Lincoln was of Scotch Irish Ancestry was born in 1723 — Part of His family settled in Montgomery Co Pa the rest going on into Virginia — In 1749 David Todd Was Married in Montgomery Co Pa to Hannah Owen. whose family were Quakers of Wales. Her Ancestor Robert Owen was one of the first Quakers in Wales and died in Montgomery Co Pa 1697. Mr John Biddle 230 South 3rd St a lineal descendant of the Owen family has in his possession papers which claim to trace the family to the 6th Century.

The Paternal Grand Father of Mrs Lincoln was the 4th child of David Todd came to Kentucky at an early day — was lieutenant in the Campaign Conducted by Gen Geo Rogers Clarke & was engaged in several expeditions against the Indians NW of the Ohio River & commanded a battalion in the Battle of Blue Licks where his brother Col John Todd was Killed Genl Levi Todd succeeded Daniel Boone as Col & afterwards became Major General was Maried 1779 to Jane Briggs neice of Col Ben Logan — Their son Robert S Todd of Lexington Ky was the Father of Mary wife of Abraham Lincoln Her Mother was a relative of her Father Eliza Parker whose Grand Father was Genl Andrew Porter of Pennsylvania a Major General in the Revolutionary Army.

Robert S Todd was a Member of the senate of Ky 1845 — 1849 & was a candidate for reelection when he died — had been representative from Fayette Co Ky & had been over 20 years President of the Branch Bank of Kentucky of Lexington Ky

There are three generations of the Todd family buried in the Providence Presbyterian Grave yard 4 Miles S of Trappe Montgomery Co Pa David Todd — Genl Levi Todd Robert S Todd & their descendants are buried in the Cemetery at Lexington Ky.
