WORDS FROM THE ANTI-SLAVERY STANDARD.

1. Hark how the loud, deep cannon's roar,
Insults the peaceful dawn,
And beat of drums and chime of bells
Marshals the early morn.

2. A country vowed to liberty,
And vowed to slavery too,
And striving with a half-way soul
To do and to undo.

3. Let the day see the pageant show,
Float banners to the breeze,
Bid liberty all hail! throughout
Columbia's lands and seas.

4. Yes, rally brave America,
Thy noble hearts and free,
Around the eagle as he soars —
Sunward — in majesty.
