The Formation of DeKalb County.

At a special term of the County Commissioners Court of Kane County began and held at the house of James Harrington in and for said County on the 9th day of June AD 1836.

Ordered that the County of Kane shall be divided into eight justice Districts and nine Election Precincts.

Ordered that the first Justice District and the first Election Precinct shall be named Ellery District and Ellery Precinct and shall be bounded as follows Commencing at the south East corner of said County thence west to the old Galena Road thence north until it intersects a line running west from the old Galena crossing on the Fox River thence East to the East line of the County thence south to the place of beginning.

Ordered that the second Justice District and the second Election Precinct shall be named Fox River Precinct and Fox River District and shall be bounded as follows East by Cook County South by a line running West from Cook County line to the old Galena Crossing at the mouth of the Wabonsie Creek ten miles thence North ten miles thence East to Cook County line.

Ordered that the third Justice district and the third Election Precinct shall be named Sandusky District and Sandusky Precinct and shall be bounded as follows Commencing at the East line of Kane County where the same crosses Popple Creek thence South on said line to the Northeast corner of Fox River Precinct thence West on the North line of Fox River Precinct ten miles thence North until it intersects a line running West from the place of beginning thence East on said line to the place of beginning.

Ordered that the fourth Justice District and the fourth Election Precinct shall be named Lake District and Lake Precinct and shall be ten miles East and West and include all that part of Kane County which lies directly North of Sandusky Precinct.

Ordered that the fifth Justice District and the fifth Election Precinct shall be named Pleasant Grove District and Pleasant Grove Precinct and shall be bounded as follows commencing at the North West corner of Lake Precinct thence South twelve miles thence West twelve miles thence North to the county line thence East to the place of beginning.

Ordered that the sixth Justice District and the sixth Justice Precinct shall be named Kishwakee District and Kishwakee Precinct and shall be bounded as follows commencing at the Northwest corner of Pleasant Grove Precinct thence West to the Northwest line of the county thence South so far that an East line will cross the Kishwakee stream at the bend near T Madisons thence East fourteen miles thence North to the place of beginning.
