Makes glad the earth again,
Each day new pleasure bringeth
The cottage by the glen,
The cottage by the glen.

2. The little ones are playing
Beside the rustic door,
The music of their voices,
Is echoed o'er and o'er;
'Twas here my sainted father,
Past three score years and ten,
By angels called left lonely
The cottage by the glen,
The cottage by the glen.

3. The years glide swiftly onward,
And soon will dawn the day,
When all of us remaining,
From earth must pass away,
And tho' the twilight shadows,
Grow pale o'er vale and fen,
We'll ever fondly cherish
Our cottage by the glen,
Our cottage by the glen.
