No. 23. A New Yankee Doodle.

Tune

We toilers have made up our minds
To have a revolution,
And make "Perpetual Money" soon,
A standing institution.

CHORUS.
Yankee Doodle, banks and bonds;
Yankee Doodle Dandy;
Bounce the banks and burn the bonds;
Oh! Yankee Doodle Dandy.

We'll make the greenback crisp and new,
A lasting legal-tender;
Our simple votes can do it, boys,
For what is there to hinder?

When our bonds shall all be paid,
In lawful Greenback Money,
Our country, now impoverished,
Will flow with milk and honey.

They proud will feel each workingman,
If he has done his duty,
And helped to crush the "Bulls" and Bears,"
Who care for naught but booty.

If we can only breast the storm,
And work and watch together,
The clouds will break, the sun will shine,
'Mid calm and cheerful weather.

We'll pool our issues, brothers, all;
Lay down our private fancies,
For every sacrifice we make
Our victory enhances.

But, brothers, we can ne'er succeed,
Unless we are firm united,
With hearts and hands securely joined.
To keep the faith we're plighted.

Our mighty work is just begun,
We must not flinch or falter;
Each patriot soul must lay his all
Upon his Country's altar.

Capt. Geo. W. Loyd.
