No. 32. From Oregon to Maine.
Copyrighted and used by permission of "The S. Brainard's Sons Company."
1. Bring the good old ballot, boys, we'll right our ev'ry wrong;
Just like the boys in army days, we'll move the world along.
We'll show our bold oppressors that we have an army strong,
Willing to fight for the Union.
Chorus.
Hurrah! Hurrah! for freedom's jubilee,
Hurrah! Hurrah! forever we'll be free;
And this shall be our chorus on the land and on the sea,
God speed the right and our Union.
2. Oh, how the merchants shouted, when the news spread all around,
And how the jobbers spouted, when they found themselves aground;
And how our wives and daughters sang this chorus thro' the town,
God speed the right and the Union.
Chorus.
3. Yes, ev'ry Labor Union man soon joined the joyful strain,
And helped the brave Alliance boys in hauling off their grain;
And swelled this chorus with a will from Oregon to Maine,
God speed the right and the Union.
Chorus.
4. Now all the mighty thorough-fares are loaded with the grain,
And bringing back supplies and cash with ev'ry moving train;
We're backing up our muscle with our ballot and our brain,
For we find that our strength lies in Union.
Chorus.
