A Meeting of Socialists.

A meeting of Socialists was held last night at the corner of Lake and Desplaines streets for the purpose of organizing a West Side American group of Socialists. Mrs. Parsons spoke on "How Shall We Prevent Riots?" Her speech was devoted almost entirely to the London riots. She defined riot as meaning a young revolution. The same causes which induced the paupers of London to riot in Washington Territory and in the coke regions of Pennsylvania proved this assertion. Capital was the same in a republic or a kingdom. The laboring-men should arm themselves and be ready to back up their demands. Sam Fielden followed the same strain. He said the people were becoming aroused, and that it would not be long before a revolution which would knock the Revolution of '76 cold would take place.
