LAURA E. NEWELL.
JAS. L. ORR.

1. Sowing the seed in the morning,
Working while shineth the day;
Shadows of evening are coming,
Cheerfully work while we may.

REFRAIN.
Sowing the seed, sowing the seed,
Tolling till shadows grow long;
Brief is the day, brief is the day,
Merry with labor and song.

2. Sowing the seed in the valley,
Fertile the beautiful fields;
Harvest time crowns them with plenty,
Nature her fullness then yields.

REFRAIN.

3. Sowing the seed, and its increase
Surely is coming we know;
Trusting, we wait for the harvest,
Reaping whatever we sow.

REFRAIN.
