No. 46. The March of Labor.
ISAAC JAMESON, Newton, Kas.
1. Come and see the Sons of Labor rising in their might and main;
Come and join in the procession, come and follow in the train,
Let us haste the day Monopoly shall cease his tyrant reign,
As we go marching on.
CHORUS.
Come, ye brave, from ev'ry nation;
All who're looking for salvation;
Come and join in the procession,
As we go marching on.
2. I have seen them 'round the watchfires of ten thousand circling camps:
I have seen them climbing mountains; I have seen them crossing swamps.
We may read their righteous sentence by the great electric lamps,
As we go marching on.
Chorus.
3. I have read that righteous judgment, and 'twas stamped with God's great seal;
"As ye deal with my poor children, so with you shall justice deal."
Let the hero, born of woman, crush the tyrant with his heel,
As we go marching on.
Chorus.
4. They have sounded forth the trumpet that shall never call retreat;
They are sifting out the brave and true before the judgment seat.
Oh, be swift, brave hearts, to answer, and be jubilant our feet,
As we go marching on.
Chorus.
5. Look ye now, the day is breaking, e'en the gloaming now I see,
Shining forth in a bright halo that transfigures you and me.
Let us put forth ev'ry effort, all humanity is free,
As we go marching on.
Chorus.
