ST. LOUIS, March 10.
The following is an official dispatch:
To Major General McClellan, Washington:
The army of the southwest, under Gen. Curtis, after three days hard fighting, has gained a most glorious victory over the combined forces of Van Dorn, McCulloch, Price and McIntosh.
Our loss in killed and wounded is estimated at 1000; that of the enemy still larger. Guns, prisoners, &c., captured in large quantities. Our cavalry are in pursuit of the flying enemy.

The telegraph reports.
WASHINGTON, March 10th. — Three is no longer any doubt that the rebels have evacuated Centerville, Winchester and other important points, indicating a general falling back of their forces.
It is estimated that Illinois, if as densely populated as Massachusetts, would contain a population of over 133,000,000, and if the average to the square mile was as large as it is in England, the population of Illinois would be 280,000,000?
