In Council of Safety, Philadelphia, 15th November, 1776.
GENTLEMEN: The Generals, on viewing the ground between this city and Chester, judge it highly necessary to have a number of light cannon, mounted on traveling carriages, provided immediately. If the Board of War shall think proper to give an order for the eight six-pounders belonging to the sloop Hornet, to be delivered to Colonel Mifflin for that purpose, this Board will order them to be mounted as soon as possible.
By order of Council:
Thos˙ Wharton, Jun˙, President.
To the honourable Board of War.
