"At a Treasury Board, held at the Treasury Office, in Philadelphia, the 7th day of May, Anno Domini 1776, present James Duane, Chairman, Thomas Willing, Elbridge Gerry, John Gibson, Auditor-General, William Webb, Assistant, Esquires, Superintendents:

"Ordered, That Letters be written pursuant to the Resolution of Congress of the seventeenth day of February, to the different Assemblies and Conventions of the United Colonies, requesting them to furnish accounts of the number of the Inhabitants in each Colony respectively, according


to resolution of Congress on that subject, and that a copy of the last-mentioned resolution be forwarded to each of them.
