TIMOTHY DANIELSON TO GENERAL WASHINGTON.

Peekskill, December 1st, 1776.

SIR: By order of the late Massachusetts-Bay, we have appointed William Shepard, James Wilson, John Bailey, Thomas Nixon, Rufus Putnam, and Michael Jackson, Esq˙, to the command of battalions, and John Brooks, Esq˙, Lieutenant-Colonel in Colonel Jackson' s battalion, who is absent by reason of a wound, and have commissioned them accordingly.

By order of the Committee of the State of Massachusetts-Bay, to appoint officers.
