Letter to Clement Lempriere, respecting terms of building a row-galley

Navy Board, Saturday, 2 November, 1776.

The Board met according to adjournment.

Present: Edward Blake, Esquire, First Commissioner, Geo˙ Abbott Hall, Thomas Corbett, Roger Smith, Esqs.

A Letter was wrote to Clement Lempriere, Esq˙:

"South-Carolina, November 1, 1776.

"SIR: The Commissioners of the Navy having been informed that you have engaged with his Excellency the President to build a row-galley for this State, they desire that you will as soon as possible acquaint them by letter on what terms you are to build the said galley, the particular dimension, when she is to be finished, and what quantity of iron will be wanted to complete her.

"I am, sir, your most humble servant,

"EDWARD BLAKE, First Commissioner."
