Portsmouth, June 8, 1775.
SIR: A mail containing a quantity of letters were last night sent from on board the man-of-war to Eleazer Russell, Esq˙, in whose hands they now remain. Mr˙ King waits on the Congress to request their determination on this matter, and will give them what further information they require. We must entreat Mr˙ King may return to Town this night, as the people will be impatient for their letters.
I am, by order of the Committee, Sir, your most humble servant,
THOS˙ HART, Chairman.
To the President of the Provincial Congress at Exeter.
