Passed October 23, 1776.
Resolved, That the several Committees appointed to repair to the Armies at or near New-York and Ticonderoga, be instructed, on their arrival at the Armies aforesaid, respectively, to consult with the General and Commander-in-Chief of the Army on the necessity of continuing in service the men belonging to this State, and now engaged till the 17th of November and 1st of December next, until the 1st day of February next; and if it shall be thought necessary or advisable there, to endeavour to prevail with them to engage to remain in the said service till the 1st of February next, and for their encouragement to engage to continue to that time, that the said Committees be, and hereby are empowered, in behalf of this State, to offer and engage to each Non-Commissioned Officer and Soldier of the forces aforesaid an addition of twenty Shillings per month to the wages now established for them, to be paid out of the Treasury of this State, to commence from the 17th of November next, and to continue for the time they shall so engage for and serve in case they shall not be sooner discharged.
