Baltimore, 28th December, 1776.

DEAR SIR: The Committee of Congress at Philadelphia are directed, by a late resolution of Congress, to contract for erecting a magazine at Carlisle. I shall be at that place in

a short time, and will give every assistance in my power to those whom you employ.

You are much wanted in Congress, though I know you are of essential service at Philadelphia.
