GOVERNOUR COOKE TO COMMODORE HOPKINS.

Providence, November 28, 1776.

SIR: I received yours of yesterday by express. Am sorry to find by the contents that any of your officers have been obstructed in their duty in picking up the deserters from the ships. Shall use my endeavours to give all due assistance to the officers of the fleet in picking up their deserters. If the offenders can be found out, shall endeavour that they be brought to justice.
