War Office, Boston, December 20th, 1776.
SIR: The Board have been made acquainted that you have a quantity of linen, &c˙, in your hands, and the reason they do not contract for the same is, Messrs˙ Livingston and Thornbull are sent from Congress to purchase all the linens, &c˙, which can be spared for the Army. Not doubting your publick spirit will induce your putting them as low as possible, the Board refer them to you, and are your most humble servants. By order of the Board,
S˙ P˙ Savage, Pres' t p˙ t.
Nathaniel Tracy, Esq.
