Hartford, June 17,1776.

By a letter from a gentleman atAlbany, we are informed that the Honourable GeneralThomas died of the small-pox atChambly about a fortnight since.

Since our last, advice has been received in town fromAlbany that a large number of theMohawk tribe ofIndians, headed by SirJohn Johnson, had come down theMohawk River in a hostile manner, and that GeneralSchuyler had marched with a body of troops to meet them. We have not yet received any further particulars.

GovernourTrumbull has received an express from the Continental Congress desiring him to lose no time in raising men, as certain intelligence is received thatNew-York will be attacked by the enemy in a few days.
