Baltimore, November 30th, 1776.
SIRS: I have a large parcel of powder, that Captain Martin brought in, that he says is for Philadelphia. Please let me know what I am to do with it. I shall have all the flour for Captain Martin delivered this day from the mills. I would be glad to know if I ought to continue the mills grinding for me, as it is some disadvantage to let them engage with other people. There are several prize vessels here. Will you want any of them? The prize schooner has some rum on board. I will give ten shillings per gallon for it all, if you can or will sell it. Please write me on this matter; the powder in particular.
From your humble servant,
JESSE HOLLINGSWORTH.
