Fort Constitution, August 2, 1776.
SIR: I wrote you last week by Captain Cook, in which I enclosed the accounts of this post, from my last settlement to the time of my dismission as a Commissioner under the Provincial Congress, requesting you would be so kind as to lay them before the Committee of Accounts for their inspection. I have now to desire the favour of the honourable the Congress of the State of New York to order the amount of those accounts to be paid to Colonel James Clinton, who will bring it up to this post with him, by which means I shall be enabled to settle with the artificers and others, who are continually pestering rne for their money.
I am, sir, with respect, your humble servant,
To Nathaniel Woodhull, Esq.
