Recommendation of Lieutenant Doty

v3:703

RECOMMENDATION OF LIEUTENANT DOTY.

Mount Independence, November 15, 1776.

Whereas Lieutenant David Doty, of Colonel Burrell' s regiment, has obtained leave of Major-General Gates to join the State of New- York, and is desirous of continuing in the service of the United States of America, and has the General' s liberty to leave the regiment which he last served in, would therefore recommend said Lieutenant Doty to said State, as a worthy officer, and one that has performed his duty to universal satisfaction in the offices of both an Adjutant as well as that of a Lieutenant; and that so good an officer may be continued in the service, is both the earnes' t wish and desire of your humble servants,

NATHA' L BUELL, Lieut˙ Colonel.

JOHN SEDGWICK, Major.
